Aside from the intellectual prowess that you should give in, the construction is also physically challenging. It is not a simple task and therefore you need to be determined and decided before choosing to build your own catamaran sailboat. If you have the resources of building it then you should at least consider making one in order to save huge amount of money than purchasing it.

The first thing that you need to consider first is to know the boat that you are planning to build. Building a boat entails various considerations, from the bolt, the bulkhead, support, rib, the hose and the wiring; all of these stuffs need to be given utmost consideration because these are to be installed in your boat. These are just the primary considerations when building a catamaran sailboat. When you are serious about making a catamaran sailboat that can navigate well along the Amazon, considering such entails lots of hard work, time and dedication to push through. But there are some who just wish to make a simple catamaran sailboat that can be used in a small lake. So here are the steps that you can employ when making a homemade catamaran sailboat.

A catamaran sailboat can be made using pontoons or pipes too. A pontoon catamaran sailboat can adequately serve its purpose in navigating over a small lake. Aside from this, making a homemade catamaran sailboat is less difficult and easy to make. By opting to make an alternative catamaran sailboat, you will be able to make one. So here are the materials that you will need. Pontoons or you can also use PVC pipes, screws, screwdrivers, reciprocating saw, caulking gun, waterproof caulk, beams, plywood, mast, wrench, and sail. If you have the complete working tools, you can also secure those, you might need them while in the process of making.

Using a pontoon, get your pontoons then place over a clean hard surface, preferably on a floor. Be sure to construct this outside of your house or else you need to break down your wall just to move it out. If you are going to use PVC pipes, get them and start cutting the desired length. Using a reciprocating saw, cut the PVC pies into the desired length, usually 10-15 feet length of each pipe is enough and can accommodate numbers of heads. Then cover the ends of the pipes with the cover caps then add caulking to tighten them. Be sure to cover both ends tightly otherwise sea water can get inside of the pipe and will potentially sink.

Get a 4x4 beam then cut a bar measuring one foot in length. Cut out 6 bars measuring one foot each. You can accurately cut out using a reciprocating saw. One at a time, get the cut bar then measure it below the pipe then start screwing. Screw the 6 pieces one foot length of 4x4 bars at an interval until the whole length of the pipe has been screwed on. You need to come up with 5 arch shaped cuts of a 4x4 beams measuring one foot each. Mount the arch-shaped pieces into the pipe at a regular interval. The two pipes that will serve as the floaters should by now connected by the bars and the arch-shaped beams.

Properly screw all the bars and the beams to the pipes. When it is already taking shape, you can now get the plywood sheet then start screwing unto the top of the pipes. This will give you the deck of the boat. Be sure to screw them properly from the edges and in between of the sheet. This should provide enough strength to carry the weight of the passengers. You need to mount the mast to the deck using mounting brackets and other instructions. Then put the sail and run it over the mast then do the properly attachment and secure them all. The accompanying instructions together with the sail will help you to do the mounting correctly.  You can test your homemade catamaran sailboat in a lake then start sailing over the water.
