Paper folding is one exciting pastime that many people are doing now. This activity has a Japanese term called Origami. This term denotes folding of paper to make something out of it. Although this activity requires mastery and patience, but once you’ll get used to it, folding will just go on smoothly. You can create beautiful shapes out of a plain paper. This way you can impress other people and shows how artistic you are.

Folding a flower out of paper is one form of Origami. In order to create a beautiful paper flower, you need to have exact folds and to meticulously follow the steps. Although this may be hard for a first timer, but once you will get to complete even one flower out of paper, you will get to enjoy doing it. Aside from the fact folding a beautiful flower out of paper is already a talent; you can make use of your finished product as simple gift or something beautiful to give to your friends.

Folding a flower out of paper can be considered as a complex folding, but let’s take it step by step and make the instructions simple and easy to follow. So here it is.

The first thing you need to do is to gather the supply materials needed. You need to have a piece of paper. Any kind of paper will do as long as it is square in shape for starters. But we can also try cutting the paper to make a square shape. You can also try using colored ones to add more beauty to the product. You also need a ruler, pencil and scissors.

If you don’t have a square paper, you can cut out any paper and form it in a square shape. You will need a ruler, measure the edges of the paper, be sure that the four edges of a paper measures the same. Mark them using a pencil. If you already have the blueprint, then cut out through the markings.

Once you already have a square paper, then you’re set to make the first folding. If you have a paper that has a front color only, and you want the color to show, be sure to face it upwards before folding. The first step is to fold the paper into two. You should be having a rectangle shape after. Be sure to have a fine folding because this will affect the result. Now you have a rectangle shape, fold the paper sideways. This folding will now give you a small box or small square. The next few steps are a bit tricky so you need to follow carefully.

Remember that you have folded the paper sideways giving you a small square? The next thing you need to do is to open the square and rest them in a firm flat surface, you should be seeing two small boxes or small squares.

On the right box, make a flap towards the left box then make a crease. You should see a triangle by now with its half side embedded on your left box or left small square. Now do the same thing on the left box or on the other small square. Flatten them carefully. Make the crease sharper to give distinct edges on the flower.

Once you’re done, you should see now a triangular folded paper with four numbers of flaps. Try to align the creases and flatten them properly. Now take one flap, flatten it towards the table. By now you should see a high-peaked or elongated triangle that has a tail like. Unfold the flattened elongated triangle then make an inward crease from the edge of the tail.

Now lift the bottom flap, in an outward direction, flatten it downwards or towards the table. By now you should see a small diamond shape with equal measurements on all its edges. Now from the top of the diamond shape or on its peak, lift it up then flatten it in a downward direction towards the table. You will be forming a diamond shape or pyramidal shape that exceeds the lower lining of the flaps or paper. Now do the same steps on the entire remaining flaps.

Once you’re finished with the remaining flaps, you should be seeing a diamond shape or elongated diamond shape. Now with the longer pyramidal shape facing down, slowly carefully fold down the longer flaps. When doing this first time you will notice some irregular shapes or parts, this is already expected. But try doing this several times so you will get used to it. You can also fold the petals using a pencil.

Now you have a folded flower made out from a paper.
